Bandicoots

There are about twenty species of bandicoot. Most of them live in Australia, but a couple are native to Papua New Guinea.

Australia was the obvious answer however – particularly as the question pointed out that the bandicoot is a marsupial! Come on guys, this is the semi–final of the Cup (and Plate)!
